The Skaters Union x True East collaboration shirt came to fruition because Carlos Baiza (Los), the owner and operator of Skaters Union, LLC, has fronted the DIY skate scene since he was a kid. He started out by building ramps in Harrisburg, PA as a kid and then venturing on to Philly. In 1994 the skaters got the go ahead from the mayor to do as they wish at FDR city park if they stayed away from Love Park. Los and some friends started working at the park site cutting forms, transitions and pouring concrete resulting in the park you all know and love today, FDR Skatepark. He has many private, public, and renegade skateboard structures under his belt.
Recently we got wind of a sick DIY spot going down in PA and connected with Los to see how we could help. We jumped in and collaborated with a t-shirt design to raise funds for the cement pour of the spot. $15.00 of every shirt sold will go to Skaters Union for cement. It's simple we sell 100 shirts, that's $1500.00 in concrete. Give Some to Get Some!
